China-Listed CROs and CDMOs: Align Entities and Reporting Bases First
China-listed CRO/CDMO
This guide groups listed companies by clinical research, preclinical work, drug discovery, CDMO services, and mixed businesses. Before comparing results, confirm the listed entity, consolidation boundary, and reporting period, then examine revenue, earnings, and cash flow together.
Questions to ask first
- Do the A-share and H-share listings represent the same group, and are listed subsidiaries already included in the parent's consolidated accounts?
- Are the figures full-year, half-year, nine-month, or quarterly results, and are the currency and accounting basis consistent?
- Which revenue comes from CRO or CDMO services, and do investments, fair-value changes, impairments, or milestone timing affect earnings?
Key terms
- Consolidated reporting
- Financial results within a group's reporting boundary, rather than revenue or earnings from a specific CRO or CDMO segment.
- Year-to-date versus quarterly
- Figures from the beginning of the year through the reporting date must be distinguished from results for a single quarter.
- Reported and adjusted earnings
- Statutory earnings and measures excluding nonrecurring items or using non-IFRS adjustments retain their disclosed labels and calculation boundaries.
Evidence and scope
The guide distinguishes core CRO/CDMO companies from listed groups with related businesses. Missing figures are not treated as zero. Financial rankings require consistent currencies, reporting periods, and comparable definitions, while avoiding double counting parents and subsidiaries or A-share and H-share listings.
